Hi Zero in collaboration with Aesthetics in the Anthropocene present a night of poetry. 

Please note the change of venue from our usual address: this reading takes place upstairs in the Nightingale Room at the Grand Central pub, directly next to the train station in Brighton.

Carol Watts is a poet whose practice includes site specific work, drawing, sound and other media, sometimes in collaboration. Her sequence Zeta Landscape, responding to the landscape and husbandry of sheep on a Welsh hill farm, was anthologised in The Ground Aslant: An Anthology of Radical Landscape Poetry. Her most recent poetry collections include Dockfield (Equipage) and When Blue Light Falls (Shearsman), and she is currently exploring inundation and immunologics, creaking trees and rare earths, where the south downs meet Brighton’s Kemptown.

Jonathan Skinner founded and has edited the journal ecopoetics. His poetry books include Chip Calls (Little Red Leaves, 2014), Birds of Tifft (BlazeVOX, 2011), Warblers (Albion, 2010) and Political Cactus Poems (Palm Press, 2005). He teaches in the Writing Program and in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at the University of Warwick. 

Freya Marshall Payne is a founder of experimental webzine The Corrugated Wave (corrugatedwave.com). As a bilingual journalist and writer she is interested in disrupting boundaries between poetry, reporting and essay. Her poetry shifts between Spanish and English and has recently been published in The Ofi Press Mexico and Five2One Magazine. She studies English and History at Sussex University

Angus is in the final year of his English BA at Sussex University and is currently working on his dissertation in Experimental Writing. He has had his poetry published by the Sussex student poetry site “The Stanza”.
